AXO Student Living

01 April 2022

Moving away from home in order to study at university can be a daunting challenge. Students moving away from home often look for accommodations that offer more than location and good quality rooms. A living space that allows opportunities to build friendships is equally important. We here at Myrooms understand this, which is why we partner with AXO Student Living. Alongside their brilliant student accommodation buildings across key areas of Central London and outside of London as well, this blog will be looking at what AXO Student life entails. So if you’re someone looking for a room to stay during your studies, this may be the blog for you.

Location and bedrooms

Let’s start with the basics. As mentioned, AXO Student Living provides accommodation in key areas across Central London; Oxford Circus, New Cross, Camden, and Islington. Therefore you will be able to find a place near most major London universities. Of course public transport is plenty, but it still is nice to be walking distance! Looking outside of London? AXO Student Living properties are also available in Coventry, Suffolk, and Sunderland. A stylish and modern feel is present across all their sites. Renters can choose from a variety of ensuite, studio, and standard rooms. Some comprise a personal kitchenette, others share a communal kitchen. Rooms come with a bed (double or single dependent on location), study area, and lots of storage space. The modifications throughout their differently priced rooms allow you to choose one that best fits your needs. Security is prioritised as well with on-site staff, secure door entry systems, and CCTV cameras.

Communal Spaces

‘Communal space’ is a vague term. It can range from a fully equipped entertainment space to a dingy room with a couple of old, unloved sofas. If a student accommodation presents the latter, it becomes less used by its students. Which can make introducing oneself and making friendships harder. AXO prides itself on offering clean, well-maintained common rooms for students to use as they please. Some sites even boast state of the art gyms. Pool tables, TVs, and plenty of space are common features across their properties. As well as being centrally located with easy access to great transport links, fostering a vibrant student community is evidently one of AXO Student Living’s priorities. Furthermore, these communal areas are often the site of AXO Events. A featured programme to further encourage mixing amongst students. Fancy a game of pool, anyone?

AXO Events

This smoothly leads us to the next reason Myrooms is proud to partner with AXO Student Living - their events! Dubbed ‘AXO Life’ on their website, they recognise “that building a network of friends and having a full social life is an important part of the university experience”. Some people find it difficult to initiate friendships, and AXO Life provides the tools and space to do this. They organise events designed to help students get to know each other. This includes; celebrating international holidays such as AXO Life’s Chinese New Year Celebration, or learning new skills like ‘Sip n’ Paint’ crafts night. Poker nights, welcome parties, and more are regular features on the AXO Life calendar! There is something for everyone - no matter what your ideal social mixing environment is. To keep up to date with their event calendar, make sure to look up the Facebook accounts for all different site locations

Support For You

Another brilliant feature of the AXO Life programme is the mental and wellbeing support it provides. AXO’s blog is written with the student experience in mind. Similar to our blog which focuses on adjusting to life in London or how to cope with the pandemic, the AXO blog helps students with a variety of issues. Ranging from study tips to mental health resources. We personally enjoyed their blogpiece; ‘Not Feeling Great? Here’s Who You Can Speak To When Feeling Down’ which links to a variety of helplines and how to go about contacting university support networks. Outside of this, AXO Student Living also offers a Mental Health & Wellbeing Student Assistance Programme. Just looking through the image below briefly shows a wide range of support is provided to help assist with any issues during your studies. Be it financial, home-life, legal, etc, AXO doesn’t just collect rent money and leave you to fend for yourself. Your home away from home is a home nonetheless.
