Top Cosy Cafes Across London

21 October 2021

Coffee shops are integral to our lives. Whether it’s to settle in with your work laptop, catch up with a friend over a warm drink, or grab a caffeine fix on your way to your next destination. Now autumn draws to winter and our hands long to hold something warm. Therefore we’ve picked our top cafes over N E S and W London.

North London → The Breakfast Club Angel N1 8EA

To start the list we have an example of a classic cafe. Well-known to Londoners and tourists alike, the Breakfast Club is a staple. Although a chain with locations across London, our favourite lies in Angel. You will find this cafe tucked away by Islington’s Camden Passage. Meaning a perfect spot for grabbing a drink and a bite to eat after browsing the antique markets and independent boutiques dotted around the area. Breakfast Club Angel balances along the lines of intimately cosy and wildly popular. With a retro American-diner-inspired menu, our favourite dish is the Halloumi Disco Hash. A spicy but well balanced brunch meal with homestyle fried potatoes, you can have your topped fried egg as well-done/runny as you like. Although served with either halloumi or chorizo to give a rich flavour, we prefer the halloumi as it’s grilled to perfection.

East London → Allpress Espresso Roastery and Cafe E8 2NG

This one is for the coffee enthusiasts. Located in Dalston, the artisan cafe boasts a wide range of specialty coffees to sample. Their original blends are available to buy. And they even work alongside other cafes, supplying beans for their coffees. Based in the spacious old joiner’s factory, it comprises an open airy space with a beautiful garden. There is further space to work inside, and room for plenty! Naturally, our favourite item on the menu is the wide variety of different roasted coffees prepared by skilled baristas. There are also a small bites menu to satisfy your mid-day hunger. But truly the coffee is supreme.

South London → Coal Rooms SE15 4RX

Coal Rooms seems like a strange recommendation as it is based in Peckham Rye Station. However, this cafe is one of Peckhan’s leading culinary destinations. The cafe is busy as ever during the evening due to its open kitchen and coal-fired grill. However it’s a great place to settle in to work on your laptop during the day. With coffees under £3 and light bites for lunch, you can stay all day and get your tasks done! Our favourite menu item is the classic Egg Roll with a twist. Differing from your average cafe roll, this meal is served with spicy sriracha mayo. Including the option to add Lamb Merguez Sausage for extra flavour, working from home (or cafe) doesn’t have to feel monotonous and boring. In the words of the Spice Girls – Spice Up Your Life!

West London → EL&N Cafe W1A 1AB

We’ve chosen this cafe for the girls and the pink-lovers. Dubbed the “most instagrammable cafe in the world”, the interior decoration within is gorgeous. Showcasing neon signs, flowers literally cascading from ceiling to floor, and multiple shades of pink. There are multiple branches in London, as well as in Paris as of recent. But the one based in Selfridges was a short walk away from the Myrooms office. If you’re looking for a cafe to get together with friends, the extensive menu makes EL&N an ideal brunch spot. Not to mention delicious cakes and many hot drinks for tea time. Our favourite item(s) is a toss up between two. The Golden Latte is a classic turmeric latte reimagined, with pepper included to give a real kickstart to the body. We also love the Rose Macons served with a raspberry compote – deliciously light yet satisfying!

Conclusion

These are just four picks out of the hundreds of great cafes around London. We rent rooms across key areas of the city. So we wanted to give you a taste of what each area has to offer. If you have a favourite cafe in London, share this blog on social media and let us know!
